Ideal LSA role for Criminology and Psychology graduates.
This is an LSA role in a specialist provision for children aged 11-19 who have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
We focus on holistic and restorative practices, creating empathy whenever possible. The school avoids punitive measures and only uses manual handling training when there are no other options.
A practical trial day will take place in the school to ensure the role is suitable for you. This is dependent on your availability to start ASAP, whether you have a notice period, or are finishing University.
Can you improve the students' lives, keep them safe, and demonstrate the value of education?
In addition, can you ensure the children's safety? You will receive extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA Training. As an aspiring clinical psychologist, you will have the opportunity to explore and refine your areas of genuine interest and skills over the course of 10 years of qualification.
Responsibilities:
1. Support secondary-aged students with EHCPs, including those with Autism, OCD, and varying levels of social anxiety.
2. Engage in physical work while being pragmatic to help each child make academic progress based on their context.
3. Adapt to and manage some anti-social behavior as part of the role, providing support to society's most vulnerable children.
4. Implement various therapies and holistic processes, celebrating small successes as milestones.
5. Address specific needs such as Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
6. Focus on the diverse cognitive abilities of each student, promoting positive engagement and acceptance.
7. Provide students with objectives and foster independence, especially for those in assisted living.
