About the team The Digital Workplace team within Worldpay Corporate Technology is responsible for the design, build and operation of Worldpay’s EUC environment, with associated infrastructure and support services. This includes physical, virtual and cloud desktop platforms, our corporate app store and software deployment, collaboration platforms and messaging, Active Directory, Intune, mobile and end-user support services. The team is relentlessly focused on delivering a great experience to clients, driving innovation, value and simplicity in all the services we deliver. We are seeking a Head of Desktop Platform & Apps within the Digital Workspace team, who will be responsible for leading the strategy, development and management of our core Windows and Mac platforms. This role will also include responsibility for leading our application packaging and deployment team, as well as our corporate app store. What you’ll own Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the overall strategy for the desktop platform, aligning with the company’s goals and objectives. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of desktop engineers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Platform Development: In partnership with our IT Architecture and Virtualisation Infrastructure functions, oversee the design, development, and deployment of desktop solutions, ensuring they meet user needs and industry standards. Build Imaging and Deployment Desktop Applications: Manage our application packaging team and software intake processes, lifecycle management of core build applications, software deployment and ownership of our corporate application store Defining Standards: Partnership with our IT Architecture and Colleague Experience teams to identify customer requirements and define appropriate standards for desktop hardware and peripherals Security and Compliance: Partnership with our Security team to ensure the desktop platform adheres to security best practices and compliance requirements, mitigating risks and vulnerabilities. Integration of Endpoint Security tooling and VPN into the desktop platforms. Patching and Upgrades: Partner with our Enterprise Desktop patching team to ensure vulnerability compliance across the desktop estate. Plan, test and manage deployment of OS upgrades. Manage the deployment of BIOS and Firmware updates across the device fleet Performance and Telemetry: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the desktop platform, identifying trends and taking action proactively. Management and deployment of End User Experience Monitoring tooling with development of metric dashboards Innovation: Partner with our IT Architecture function to drive innovation by exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance the desktop platform. Stakeholder Collaboration: Drive the Colleague Experience. Work closely with other Corporate Technology functions and stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the desktop platform supports business operations effectively. Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers for Desktop Platforms, ensuring quality and value in their contributions. What you bring Leadership: Experience leading multi-regional Desktop Platform Engineering and Application packaging teams in Enterprise scale environments Operating System knowledge: Expertise in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems, including deployment, configuration, and management. Virtualization: Experience working with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, and VirtualBox. Cloud Services: Proficiency in cloud-based desktop solutions, including Microsoft Azure, AWS WorkSpaces, and Google Cloud. Scripting and Automation: Strong skills in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation of desktop management tasks. Device Configuration and Deployment: Strong knowledge of Windows Autopilot technologies Endpoint and Configuration Management Tools: Expertise in Microsoft Intune, SCCM and JAMF for Mac Desktop Telemetry: Experience of working with End User Experience Monitoring software such as Uber, with knowledge of integration to SIEM tools such as Splunk Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Proficiency in monitoring tools and techniques to ensure optimal performance and availability of the desktop platform. Networking: Understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. Security: In-depth knowledge of security best practices, including endpoint protection, encryption, and vulnerability management. Software Deployment: Experience with software deployment tools and methodologies, ensuring efficient and reliable application delivery. Strong knowledge and experience of software deployment through Microsoft Intune. Working knowledge of BigFix desirable Hardware: Familiarity with desktop hardware components and peripheral devices, ensuring compatibility and performance.
