Our flagship Canning Manufacturing Plant is looking to appoint a Front End Technician to join our day shift engineering team and play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing high-speed production equipment!
Main Purpose of the Position:
As a valued member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on front end can making equipment. Your role will involve operating, adjusting, and repairing high-speed production equipment to ensure it meets customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety First: Develop and implement safe working practices for both routine and non-routine tasks.
2. Efficiency: Manage the CMMS system, complete assigned work orders within agreed time frames, and suggest improvements.
3. Problem Solving: Identify and rectify process performance issues on cupping press and die set, bodymaker and trimmers, and coolant system pumps/filters/pipework.
4. Routine Checks: Conduct daily routine checks for plant and production equipment.
5. Continuous Monitoring: Keep a close eye on equipment condition to ensure optimal performance.
6. Maintenance: Perform routine and planned overhauls of cupping press, bodymakers/trimmers, and associated ancillary equipment.
7. Flexibility: Carry out planned and ad hoc maintenance, including height/diameter changes.
8. Innovation: Implement mechanical improvements in the process.
9. Support: Assist with trials and new equipment installation and commissioning.
10. Inventory Management: Monitor spare parts and rebuild unit spares as required (e.g., trimmer cartridges, die set tooling, clutches).
11. Training: Train and support personnel to enhance team capabilities.
12. Adaptability: Provide shift support/cover when required, with flexibility to support the engineering team across all factory areas.
13. Technical Skills: Perform turning, milling, and grinding work when required.
14. FLT Driving: Drive FLT when needed.
Professional Requirements:
Qualifications: Time-served Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship. HNC/HND or equivalent is desirable. Electrical qualification is an advantage. FLT License or willingness to train.
Skills: Working knowledge of Health and Safety practices. Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail.
Attributes: Action-oriented, flexible, and able to work well under pressure. Enthusiastic and proactive with a goal-oriented approach. Willingness to travel to other locations if needed.
