Job Description
At Leonardo, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Sales Lead to join our Sensors sales team, focusing on Complex Weapons in the United Kingdom (UK), with ambitions to expand exports through targeted campaigns.
The role involves identifying, developing, and executing new business opportunities. You will engage closely with customers, industry partners, and end-users both in the UK and internationally to close deals that meet our sales targets.
Reporting and Responsibilities
The Sales Lead reports to the Head of Sales for the Sensors business unit and manages key stakeholder relationships, developing strategies to meet customer and business needs. You will work with industry partners in the UK and abroad, managing and reporting on these relationships.
You will be the primary external point of contact for Leonardo in the Precision Guidance business area, collaborating with the IPT to ensure strategic coherence and providing feedback for future product development, with a good understanding of global Complex Weapons developments.
This role requires significant external engagement, excellent communication skills, and credibility to negotiate both technical and commercial solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Secure order intake to meet forecast targets through managing campaigns and sales opportunities.
2. Identify and generate new Complex Weapons business domestically and through exports.
3. Meet or exceed annual sales goals.
4. Develop bespoke win strategies and generate pricing for pursuits.
5. Act as the main external Leonardo contact for the Precision Guidance line of business.
6. Provide SME knowledge to the programme teams.
7. Build and maintain relationships with customers, end-users, and stakeholders.
8. Track opportunities, present prospects to SLT, and secure pursuit, bid, and resourcing approvals.
9. Identify and validate future sales opportunities.
10. Support marketing and communication events.
11. Assist in preparing investment business cases for new capabilities.
Person Specification
* Relevant sector experience and knowledge of Complex Weapons.
* Self-motivated, with the ability to set and achieve strategic goals.
* Ability to work independently and in teams.
* Innovative, with problem-solving skills in international sales environments.
* Experience with export campaigns and UK MOD influence.
* Proven leadership in strategic campaigns within Defence.
* Excellent communication, influence, and presentation skills.
* Comfortable briefing diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders and international partners.
* Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays in the UK and abroad.
