The school was one of three founding members of the Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) in 1908, an association that continues today. The school also competes in the Brisbane Schoolgirls’ Rowing Association (BRSA), Water Polo Queensland and Downey Park Netball Association (DPNA). The primary school is a member of the Andrews Cup Competition. The Swimming Program St Margaret's Swimming runs throughout the year and high participation and interest in swimming has resulted in St Margaret’s becoming one of the most successful schools within QGSSSA and Andrew’s Cup competitions. We have recently placed second in the QGSSSA competition. In addition, in 2021 the St Margaret’s Swimming Club commenced. The Swimming Club enjoys high levels of engagement by students end encourages swimmers in a safe and fun environment to build strength, technique and a love of swimming. We are currently recruiting the role of: HEAD OF SWIMMING The Head of Swimming is responsible for strategic and operational leadership, development, coordination and the delivery of the swimming program at St Margaret’s. The role ensures high levels of participation and quality pathways are available for individual growth, success and excellence in swimming. The Successful Candidate The successful candidate will be an experienced and passionate swimming coach and leader who has: A proven ability to develop a swimming program which encourages a high level of participation, adequate sequencing and individual and collective swimmer success High-level interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of people, including students, parents, teachers, swimming officials and coaching staff Ability to positively develop and mentor swimming coaches A well-developed knowledge of risk management, legislation, compliance, policies and procedures relevant to this position A passion for encouraging participation in sport, in particular swimming, and active living to students The role offers: This full-time role, provides an opportunity to work in a team of sports professionals and coaches that are highly motived to provide the best opportunities for students.
