Charity Finance Lead
We are looking for an experienced Finance Lead to join an exciting charity based in Eynsham, Oxfordshire-Part time role, 15 hours per week (0.4 FTE)- Three year Fixed Term Contract- Hybrid working, 50% of time in the Eynsham office- Salary £29k FTE
Role OverviewThis role will play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the financial processes of the charity, ensuring that robust procedures, effective digital systems and collaborative teamworking are in use. This is a multi-faceted role, with opportunity to grow and develop. Youll work with colleagues across the organisation. There is scope for this individual to take on more advanced finance tasks in future, should the individual desire to develop in the role.
You will manage the charitys day-to-day finances providing financial information to the CEO and other staff on request.
Youll assist the CEO and Treasurer on the Board of Trustees to provide up to date and accurate financial reporting to the quarterly board meetings. Youll support the accurate and timely monitoring and management of accounts payable, grant funds and individual giving donations, along with managing monthly credit control, gift aid reports and bank reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:Income, expenditure and monthly accounts-Carry out all invoicing and payments on behalf of the charity and follow up on credits and debits due when necessary.-Compile monthly/ quarterly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliation.- Monitor grants and donations received with accurate and up to date record keeping.- Support CEO to produce project and annual budgets and monitor spend against specific costs, funds and project outputs.- Deliver year end audit reports with support from the CEO and Treasurer on the Board of- Trustees.- Process monthly Gift Aid reports and annual submission to HMRC.
Banking and petty cash- Perform the monthly bank reconciliation with attention to detail and accurate record keeping.- Process staff expenses ensuring compliance with processes and policies.- Bank incoming cheques and cash.
Other general and financial duties- Ongoing review, updating and implementation of financial policies and procedures, ensuring they are written, fit for purpose and up to date.- Produce ad-hoc reports as and when required.- Be the key contact for HMRC, payroll provider, external auditors and the Treasurer on the Board of Trustees.- Manage the Accounts email mailbox.- Maintain the fixed asset inventory.
Collaborative Working- Support the CEO to develop procedures for best practice use of site and department budget monitoring for activity based costs and expenditure.- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all colleagues in the team to ensure the successful delivery of our programmes. Respond promptly and appropriately to daily, weekly, monthly team communications.- Take on additional responsibilities appropriate to the post as required (for example when new projects are implemented within the charity).- Take part in team activities and community events, being a reliable and supportive member of the team to colleagues and participants.
Qualifications & Experience:Essential- Minimum AAT Qualified and ideally main accounting body qualified or some progress towards this. ? Experience in innovating, implementing and improving systems and processes to improve service delivery and organisational functions.- Experience of using accounting systems- ideally Paxton or similar.- Working knowledge of public finance and or charity accounting.- Experience of using a CRM system or other multi strand database management system.- Highly competent in use of Microsoft Office suite of programmes and digital communications.- A commitment to the charitys mission and vision, and a determination to achieve positive outcomes- Ability to work independently and with initiative
