Plant Manager

About the role
Reporting to the Regional Operations Director of the North West, you will:
* Lead the Mail Centres operational management team and up to 70 total staff per shift, embed operating standards to raise performance in all areas, and be responsible for the achievement of KPIs, including safety, quality cost efficiency, and people.
* Achieve a fully engaged and aligned workforce, provide leadership that creates enthusiasm, and inspire others to embrace positive change.
* Transform the site into a continuously improving organisation, build a culture of high performance, and create a climate for success, collective ownership, and a shared sense of achievement.
* Ensure health, safety, and legal compliance for the Plant, promote a positive safety culture through re-enforcement of safe behaviour and visible leadership, and ensure safety responsibilities and accountability for safety is clearly identified, documented, and understood within the management structure.
* Be a key member of the regional management team by assisting with creating and developing regional business plans, leading and delivering regional and national initiatives, and owning Plant relationship with union colleagues.
About You
To truly excel in this role, you will possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:
* Expert operational knowledge related to product, process, and overall plan performance with a skilled commercial outlook, highly developed communication, people management, and development skills, and a history of being recognised as an excellent coach with experience of managing complex conduct cases, resolving complex people issues, and experience of taking action to improve engagement indicators.
* Operational planning and forecasting capabilities for a wider plant, a history of analysing and improving performance across a full range of scorecard KPIs, including people, customer, performance, and finance, and of taking action to improve results for the business, customer, and employee.
* Track record of being a process management and improvement expert, with detailed understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, and the ability to demonstrate tangible performance improvements through generating plans, introducing and managing process improvement initiatives, influencing across all levels of the business, and changing behaviours.
* Proven problem analysis and solving capabilities by using advanced problem solving tools and root cause analysis, strong understanding of automation performance KPIs, including OEE, and experience of working with and leading an engineering team to improve performance.
* Strong drive, enthusiasm and resilience, history of constantly striving for continuous improvement for both processes and people, the ability to build strong working relationships and energise colleagues, and prior experience dealing with trade union relations and influencing positive business change.
* Six Sigma black belt or equivalent qualification and desirably PIC, IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications.

Shift Pattern
Monday to Friday site attendance expectation, with availability to be contacted during the plant's 24/7 operation if required.
