For this role, you will be working in the North Wales area as a child support worker. You will be required to support people with a diverse range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and mental health needs. As a support worker, you will find yourself working in a variety of settings, including people's own homes, in health and social care settings such as supported living services or care homes, and out in the community.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Looking after and taking care of vulnerable children with different types of mental health issues.
2. Assisting with the completion of care plans, risk assessments, reviews, and incident & accidents reporting.
3. Providing physical and emotional support, which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.
4. Contributing to the effective implementation of individual programmes by supporting learning, independence, and experiences.
5. Managing the wellbeing and behaviors, ensuring significant behavioral or physical occurrences are addressed and managed accordingly.
6. Dealing with a range of mental health issues and supporting the children to provide help at all times.
7. Building relationships with the children and providing care and support.
8. Supporting routines, from waking up to activities outside.
9. Maintaining professional relationships with clients, family, and external healthcare professionals and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Working Hours:
1. 8am-8pm
2. 8pm-8am
3. 8am-11pm and attached sleep-in
What you require:
1. Great problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt and act accordingly to situations.
2. A high level of patience and emotional resilience.
3. A non-judgmental attitude regardless of a person's needs.
4. The ability to remain calm under pressure and when dealing with challenging situations.
5. Experience of working with children in a similar setting.
6. The ability to keep up with changing standards and codes of conduct in the social care sector.
7. Good written and verbal communication skills.
8. Experience as a child support worker, working with vulnerable children with a variety of mental health issues.
9. DBS check and all required checks as well as a clean criminal record.
10. Preferable to be able to drive as locations can be spread out.
11. Preferable to have level 3 qualifications in a relevant subject to health and social care.
