Main duties of the job
These fellowship posts offer clinical experience in the management of glaucoma including both complex adult and paediatric cases. The fellows will also gain insight into the service delivery of glaucoma through our innovative optometric schemes and virtual clinics. Laser and Surgical training include SLT, Yag, Argon and diode (external and endoscopic) laser therapies, enhanced trabeculectomy, angle surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and glaucoma drainage devices.
The Fellow will participate in outpatient clinics undertaking diagnosis, management and follow up of patients under the care of the Consultants. They will undertake surgery both under supervision and, where appropriate, unsupervised. In addition, they will perform a laser session per week and a general clinic in acute services. They will provide urgent glaucoma opinions for tertiary and internal referrals with the support of the supervising consultants.
