Job summary As Civil Engineer you will work on a broad range of civil engineering and structural assets, from landside assets such as bridges and roadways, to marine assets such as piers, quays and breakwaters. You will be part of a team responsible for acting as internal consultants to the rest of the Engineering department and the wider business, reviewing designs and specifications to ensure they are aligned to statutory and best practice approaches. You will oversee a programme of condition inspections, reporting on inspection findings, and applying your critical judgement to plan an efficient programme of maintenance and repairs that push forward the Port's sustainability agenda. By taking a keen interest in emerging design and construction methodologies, material technologies, and inspection techniques, you will drive innovation and efficiency. You will prepare designs, work packages, specifications and drawings, for work to be carried out by contract, whether new construction, planned maintenance or reactive maintenance. We encourage candidates working towards chartership, and can offer mentoring and support in preparation for sign-off and professional review with the Institution of Civil Engineers via our Training Scheme (we are an ICE Approved Employer).
