We have a fantastic opportunity for a general practice assistant to join our team on a part-time basis for approximately 30 hours per week (hours negotiable). The general practice assistant position is a support role, covering administrative tasks. The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary, primary-care team and contribute to the smooth running of the surgery. The main duties of this role will include: Managing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence. Identifying and extracting information from clinical documents that require coding, accurately coding data in the patients record. Ensuring actions from incoming mail are identified and tasked/workflow to the relevant person/team in the Practice or completed as appropriate. Scanning incoming correspondence both electronic and paper and adding to patients' records on the clinical system. Assisting with the recall system and contacting patients to arrange necessary appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments. Assisting with the administration of medical reports, insurance reports, benefits agency forms etc. Summarising patient records both electronic and paper records when patients register with the practice. Processing patient deductions and prepare for onward transmission of patient records. Helping the clinical team liaise with outside agencies. Assisting with practice tasks as required. Supporting and assisting other secretarial/admin staff with completing patient referrals on the e-referral system at busy times and to cover staff leave. Undertaking any other additional duties appropriate to the post as required. About Us We are a small friendly GP practice with two surgeries at Heacham and Snettisham serving approximately 7,500 patients. Our clinical team includes 3 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs and a very skilled nursing team including nurse practitioners, specialist nurses and HCAs. We are a training practice for GP registrars. We are offering a salary depending on experience and NHS pension.
