As the Health and Safety Officer, you will work closely with the experienced senior management team and all employees to contribute to the creation of precision-engineered products by creating an exceptional working environment ensuring all elements of HSEQ are at the forefront of all whether employees or visitors to both manufacturing sites. Role Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our team. As an integral part of our operations, the H&S Officer will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment in our precast manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety practices, with a specific focus on the manufacturing sector. Key Responsibilities: • Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations and internal safety standards across the precast manufacturing facility. • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, ensuring timely corrective actions. • Implement and oversee H&S training programs for all employees, ensuring that safety protocols are understood and adhered to. • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and ensure corrective measures are taken to prevent recurrence. • Collaborate with management to develop, update, and implement H&S policies and procedures. • Maintain and manage health and safety documentation, including risk assessments, safety audits, incident reports, and training records. • Liaise with external safety bodies, regulatory agencies, and insurance representatives as needed. • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to keep employees informed about safety issues and protocols. • Support the ongoing development of a culture of safety across all levels of the company. Required Skills & Qualifications: • NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety. • Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the precast or construction industry. • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices (UK specific). • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence all levels of staff. • Ability to conduct risk assessments and accident investigations. • Proficient in using health and safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite. • IOSH membership (preferable). Desirable Skills: • A background in construction or precast manufacturing. • Additional safety certifications, such as the NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent. • Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
