Personal Assistant/Cook
Wellingborough
10 - 20 hours per week
£18 per hour
The Role
Based at a welcoming family home in the Redwell area of Wellingborough, this role involves acting as a personal assistant and cook to a younger disabled woman.
Main tasks
Cooking tasty, healthy dishes, using a mixture of organic and local produce. Due to dietary needs, including a gluten allergy, recipes will be supplied and must be followed closely.
Tasks may also include grocery shopping, clearing up after meals and stacking the dishwasher.
If you would like more hours, there is the option to expand this role to include tasks such as light laundry, tidying, driving, taking parcels to the Post Office, making beds, unpacking bags, picking up prescriptions, booking hotels, etc.
Person specification
We really enjoy healthy food, so we’re looking for someone who loves to cook. This doesn’t have to be to a professional standard, just good home cooking, including dishes like stir fries, curries, fish dishes, superfood salads, etc.
Besides this, we’re looking for someone who is:
- Positive and efficient
- A good communicator
- Good at following instructions and being someone’s ‘arms and legs’
No personal care is required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Keen home cook with a good range of kitchen skills
- Experience in a personal assistant role or any general work experience involving listening and following instructions
- Full UK Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
- Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering and Allergen Awareness (though we may be able to fund this training)
Hours of work
There are a range of options. It would be good to have help with dinner, as this takes the pressure off parents currently acting as carers, so this role could be 5.30pm - 7.30pm each day. Alternatively this could be more of a personal assistant role from 1.45pm to around 6.45pm (there is flexibility here) 3-4 afternoons a week. Alternatively, 2-3 longer shifts per week or more ad hoc help could work.
Contract length
This is a six month contract with a one month probation period. There may be potential to expand this role beyond six months, to include helping the younger disabled woman to move house.
How to apply
Please send your CV and a note explaining why you’d be a great fit for the role to therelaxingcocoon@gmail.com.
Interviews
First interviews will be via video call.
Successful applicants will be invited to an in person interview and paid trial afternoon.
References will be taken and a DBS check will be conducted before an offer of employment is made.
