About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Nuclear Building Services Engineer to join our team on a 12-month contract. This is a hybrid role based in Plymouth, requiring 2-3 days per week in the office. The successful candidate will support critical projects in the nuclear sector, contributing to the design, risk management, and technical compliance of building services systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Work with engineering leads and teams to provide clear reports on progress, risks, and opportunities.

Undertake technical studies, site investigations, and develop detailed requirement specifications.

Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure system integration and project alignment.

Develop and refine conceptual designs for HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
*
Use CAD/BIM tools to create accurate models and ensure design compliance with nuclear regulations.
*
Participate in design reviews, managing interfaces between building services and nuclear infrastructure.

Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies for safety and operational risks.
*
Ensure project documentation supports safety cases and regulatory approvals.

Lead design meetings, providing technical direction and ensuring design compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Domain Knowledge:

Expertise in building services design and layout, specifically for nuclear environments.

Knowledge of nuclear safety regulations and standards (e.g., ONR, BS/ISO, CIBSE).

Experience with HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing system integration.

Proficiency with CAD/BIM software for creating engineering drawings and models.

Understanding of nuclear license conditions and technical assessment guidelines.

Ability to manage complex designs and ensure cost-effective solutions that meet safety and efficiency standards.
