About the Role
The Cancer Research UK Cancer Prevention Trials Unit (CPTU) specialises in research to advance cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening. We perform research on efficacy, cost-effectiveness, and technologies to improve existing and establish new screening programmes.
We are currently recruiting an Applications Developer to provide support in developing and maintaining the CPTU’s clinical trials database management service. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within the CPTU team. Responsibilities will include support various aspects of database management across the CPTU’s portfolio of clinical research projects.
This will involve aiding in the design and development of new databases in REDCap to facilitate data collection and ensure quality assurance in accordance with clinical trial protocols. Additionally, the role will entail testing new processes and systems for managing data capture within clinical trials, as well as assisting database system validation.
About You
We are in search of an enthusiastic candidate with experience in data management systems and databases. You will have experience in testing database management systems, demonstrate the ability to work independently and exhibit a keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have experience of REDCap development, proficiency in with computer systems validations, and a good understanding of current regulations governing the conduct of clinical research and data.

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to 400 staff, 91 PhD students and more than 500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into five separate research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements.
The Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis (CCSPED) brings together globally leading researchers focusing on cancer prevention, cancer screening and detection and early diagnosis across two units. CCSPED also hosts the cross-cutting Cancer Behavioural Science group and the CRUK-funded Cancer Prevention Trials Unit (CPTU, Director, Sasieni).

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 1 year, with an expected start date of July 2024.
