This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Manager to join the team and play a pivotal role in shaping the Trust’s HR strategy and ensuring the consistent delivery of a high-quality HR service.
The Role:
Reporting to the Director of HR, you’ll lead on key HR initiatives, ensuring the Trust attracts, develops, and retains the best talent. Your responsibilities will include overseeing recruitment, advising senior leaders, and managing individual HR cases, while embedding a culture that aligns with the Trust’s vision and ethos.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Policy and Strategy:
* Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance across all schools within the Trust
* Provide expert advice on employment law, HR best practices, and individual case management (e.g., maternity, absence management, and staff wellbeing)
* Support the Director of HR in maintaining and delivering the Trust’s overarching HR strategy.
Recruitment and Onboarding:
* Manage and oversee the recruitment, selection, and induction processes for all Trust schools, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and legal requirements
* Lead on writing job advertisements, arranging interviews, and supporting on recruitment days
* Ensure pre-employment checks and records are managed effectively in line with UK GDPR
HR Administration and Compliance:
* Maintain accurate HR information systems, including staff contracts and records, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with GDPR
* Oversee the Trust’s single central record (SCR), ensuring safeguarding requirements are met
* Monitor and analyse workforce data to provide meaningful insights to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Staff Engagement and Development:
* Promote staff wellbeing by developing and supporting initiatives that enhance engagement and morale
* Advise line managers on professional development opportunities and maintain accurate training records
* Collaborate with school leaders to ensure effective performance management processes are in place.
Communication and Relationship Management:
* Act as a key point of contact for staff, providing clear and professional HR advice on policies, procedures, and issues
* Build strong relationships with Principals, senior leaders, and external agencies to deliver effective HR solutions
* Work closely with the marketing team to develop and share internal HR communications.
Skills & Experience:
* A proven track record in HR leadership, ideally within an education or public sector setting
* CIPD qualification level 7 (or equivalent experience)
* In-depth knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and safeguarding practices
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels
* A proactive and organised approach to workload management, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
