Job overview
We are looking for 2 x full-time admin assistants to become members of a team of clerical support staff providing secretarial and administrative support to the Neurosurgery Department which will include support to the consultants, junior medical staff, trauma co-ordinator and any other staff.
You will support the efficient channelling of communication between medical staff, GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other disciplines within the Trust. You'll demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.
We would like to welcome a new member of the team into our established admin team within neurosurgery. The department covers Lancashire and South Cumbria serving a population of 1.7 million people. We would require a strong communicator and dedicated team player. The post requires a high standard of organisational skills and the recognition of confidentiality, and we would welcome applicants from all individuals with the relevant skills and experience and an appetite for a new challenge.
Main duties of the job
To be able to respond to external and internal telephone queries from staff, patients and others and referring to appropriate person. There is also a need to communicate with a range of staff, users and visitors to the trust, utilising a variety of communication methods including verbal, electronic and passing information in a format that is appropriate to the individual request.
Another key skill to which the department requires is organising incoming and outgoing post, referring enquiries to appropriate person if necessary.
The role entails arranging meetings, typing of letters or other correspondence, typing of minutes and audio typing, preparing presentation materials including PowerPoint for the department.
An admin assistant would very much need to use the Trust case note tracking system, filing of reports and results and data entry and information processing.

Person specification
Qualifications and Education
* GCSE's in Maths and English at Grade C or above or relevant experience
* RSA Level 2 or relevant experience
* RSA Level 3
* Use of medical terminology
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience of working with the public
* Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
* Previous experience of working in a health care or related setting
