We are currently seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team, starting in January 2024.
The role will be 5 days a week, school hours.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one to one support to students with SEND, both inside and outside the classroom, under the guidance of the class teacher.
2. Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies for students with specific needs.
3. Help create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
4. Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and adapt learning materials and resources to meet individual student requirements.
5. Monitor and record student progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to the teaching team.
6. Foster positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues to ensure effective communication and cooperation.
7. Support students during transitions between different activities or areas within the school.
8. Promote independent learning and personal development skills among students.
9. Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the welfare and safety of all students.
Requirements:
10. Relevant experience working with children with SEND, either within an educational setting or in a similar capacity.
11. Knowledge of different SEND conditions, their characteristics, and appropriate support strategies.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
13. Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
14. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
15. A positive and empathetic attitude towards children with SEND, demonstrating understanding and sensitivity.
16. Flexibility to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
17. Relevant qualifications or training related to supporting students with SEND (desirable but not essential).
