James Lewis are currently assisting a key client in their search for an Electrical Site Manager to join an M&E Contractor who have been well established for over 23 years.
As a privately owned Mechanical & Electrical Building Services contractor, they provide services across Design & Build, full M&E services, HVAC, IT infrastructures, CCTV, security, access control, and fire alarms. The company has been founded upon sound practices, quality installations, and working closely with their clients on a range of projects which include commercial, education, residential, healthcare, data centres, and healthcare, ranging in value up to GBP20m.
The project involves the refurbishment of an existing custodial centre near Oxford, which was last used in 2018. The redevelopment forms part of the government plans to provide safe, secure, and fit-for-purpose detained accommodation for those awaiting removal from the UK. Due to the nature of the building, there are various elements to it which include accommodation, a medical centre, sports facilities/gymnasium, educational facilities, catering areas, and a library, with a total M&E value in the region of GBP20m. The scheme has been on site since April, but with the project ramping up, they will need an additional site manager from the end of September through to completion in May 2025.
The Site Manager duties include:
1. Manage and oversee the on-site construction team, including Electrical and external Contractors.
2. Ensure Sub-contractors work to the programme.
3. Report on all Health and Safety issues and demonstrate H&S Leadership and on-site monitoring of all team members and Contractors.
4. QA inspections of installations.
5. Implement and monitor the project to ensure it is engineered to the highest standard.
6. Take ownership of Electrical issues and liaise with the Client and Design consultants to obtain closure and clarifications where necessary.
7. Ensure clear reporting lines into Contracts Manager and Project Manager.
8. Review ongoing works and highlight potential defects or risks.
9. Complete accurate materials take-off in line with the project procurement process.
10. Compile project RAMS and ensure they are updated as the project progresses.
11. Ensure installations are in accordance with drawing specifications.
The client is keeping an open mind around day rates, but they are likely to be in the region of GBP275 - GBP320 + travel. Please note that the client will only consider candidates living within a reasonable commute to Kidlington.
