M&E Project Manager - Data Centres Our client is a National multi-disciplinary consultancy who specialise in the design, delivery and management of highly engaging projects across the sectors. Due to new framework and project awards they require an M&E Project Manager to join the team working on a new Data Centre account. As the Technical (Engineering) Project Manager you will work client-side with highly experienced, culturally diverse, and passionate teams to deliver the successful completion and commissioning of new build Data Centre projects. What you need to do to be effective in this role • Attend key meetings to monitor progress, actively collaborate on solving problems and communicate impacts to partners • Conduct site inspections to review QA/QC and commissioning process • Continually review best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions. • Create and implement the commissioning strategy and procedures for the project, engaging all partners to actively support across all areas • Drive the project commissioning process including scope and schedule • Effectively communicate progress of project scope, schedule and budget, as well as update key partners and management on the commissioning process • Ensure excellent vendor results through oversight and performance management • Facilitate meetings and activities with vendor project managers • Identify and manage scopes, timelines, budget and project interdependencies between key partners for a great client outcome • Identify issues proactively and work with the team to resolve effectively • Oversee and manage client appointed commissioning teams • Work independently in support of the Data Centre Commissioning Programme The purpose of this role is to: Provide coordination, monitoring, and support services to facilitate the successful commissioning of systems. The primary objectives are to ensure timely resolution of issues, support knowledge transfer to operations teams, and maintain seamless coordination among all stakeholders in the commissioning process. The Project Manager role is to oversee and drive progress without supplanting the responsibility for independent verification and final sign-off of systems performance. Drive the complete commissioning process forwards on behalf of the Client, providing weekly Commissioning Management Reports to update the Client and the Contractor on effectiveness of the commissioning practices and processes in place and to drive continual improvement. The reports will highlight and prioritise issues (both technical and logistical) for resolution to ensure commissioning continuity without assuming the responsibility for verifying performance. Engage with the operations team at the earliest possible stage to assess training requirements, managing the training programme to ensure effective knowledge transfer. This includes coordinating training with specialist subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery aligned with the handover process, and facilitating knowledge transfer in line with the facility's design and operational parameters. Be responsible for ensuring that contractors upload required data and documentation to the Clients document platform, implementing and agreeing the protocols for this activity with the Contractor, Client and Tennant. This includes ensuring that the IRL and other commissioning documentation are updated and auditable and the verification the regular back-ups of information stored on the document portal are successful. The skills and experience you need to have for this role • Electrical systems audits, mechanical system reviews, start-up testing, and full commissioning. • Construction project quality control including the creation of a commissioning plan and support of the commissioning process. • A thorough understanding of UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and critical mechanical systems • Have demonstrated skills in developing detailed commissioning scripts • Experience project managing on a Data Centre project This is an excellent opportunity to work for a UK wide and industry recognised company who reward and recognise their employees and take great pride promoting a positive, diverse and collaborative workforce.
