JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our growing Control Systems team. As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing advanced technology for autonomy-focused control systems that we install across a range of vehicle platforms, with a focus on logistics. You will lead the design, development, and implementation of control algorithms, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our autonomous systems. This position requires a deep understanding of control theory, experience in autonomous vehicle technologies, and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and development of advanced control systems for autonomous vehicles, including perception, planning, and control algorithms.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, perception engineers, and hardware engineers, to integrate control systems into the overall autonomous vehicle architecture.
* Conduct in-depth analysis and modeling of control systems using simulation tools and real-world testing to validate system performance and optimize algorithms.
* Work closely with system architects and project managers to define project requirements, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring the successful execution of control system projects.
* Stay updated on the latest advancements in control systems and autonomous vehicle technologies, and apply this knowledge to enhance existing systems and propose innovative solutions.
* Conduct feasibility studies and develop specifications for control system projects, considering factors such as safety, reliability, real-time performance, and scalability.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to control systems in autonomous vehicles, providing support during system integration, testing, and deployment.
* Participate in design reviews, providing technical input to enhance system performance, maintainability, and scalability, with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
* 2-4 years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of control systems, preferably for autonomous vehicles, with a strong understanding of perception, planning, and control algorithms.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug control system issues in autonomous vehicles.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Proven ability to work in agile, fast-paced environments and adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations for autonomous vehicles, such as ISO 26262, SAE J3016, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and NHTSA regulations.
* Experience with digital networking protocols, ideally CAN or Ethernet-based systems.
* Experience setting up and running Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing.
* Proficiency with data acquisition software and hardware, as well as control system calibration tools.
* Experience in robotic or motion control systems software algorithm development.
* Knowledge of hydraulic or pneumatic systems design.
* Experience in electrical wiring harness design and/or manufacture.
* Basic knowledge of electronic design, including PCB layouts.
