Pentathlon GB launched its new exciting new brand Penta+ in October 2023, signalling the start of a more inclusive chapter for the sport.
Penta+ aims to grow the popularity and diversity of our sport, whilst nodding to Pentathlon’s past and upholding its valuable equity.

We are seeking to appoint one (1) new Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) to our Board in October 2024. As an INED, you’ll attend our Board meetings, join us at events and crucially be the representative for all our stakeholders. Together with our existing team, you’ll offer strategic advice to the Chair and Chief Executive Officer, working together to ensure that we grow and develop our sport and continue to win on the world stage.

Critically, we are looking for individuals with a legal background and experience, further an understanding of safeguarding in sport would be advantageous.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
·Attendance at all (6) Board meetings per year, one/two strategy and planning days plus the AGM
·Supporting the Chair and Board in promoting good governance practice, leadership and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
·Driving forward people development, the effectiveness and efficiency of the executive team
·Championing your area of expertise within the Board and offering support to the executive team
·Acting as a member / chair of working groups and sub committees as appropriate
·Supporting the strategic aims, ensuring that the resources required are available and managing performance.
·Voicing the requirements and desires of our stakeholders
·Supporting initiatives which will promote, embed and advance equality, diversity and inclusion in every aspect of the Company’s performance

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL
• Experience working in a sporting or comparable environment ideally at Board or Senior Executive level with experience of a high level of accountability
• Time & capacity to attend board meetings and contribute fully to meetings and decision-making processes
• Alignment with Organisational Values: Inclusion; Integrity and Inspiration
• A willingness to complete assignments and act as part of a sub-committee
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively within the Board
• A proven ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and leadership
• An ability to champion corporate governance, finance, and high ethical standards of integrity and probity
• A strong personal commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
• The ability to listen sensitively to the views of others, inside and outside the Board, displaying good judgement and decisiveness in pressured circumstances and the skills and experience to influence decision making.
DESIRABLE
•Candidates ready to take on broader Board responsibilities in the short to medium term
•An understanding or knowledge of Modern Pentathlon and it’s family of sports.
