CfT: Consultant to prepare and digitise archive collection
Derry City & Strabane District Council’s Museum Service have issued an Invitation to Quote for a Consultant to prepare and digitise archive collection (T24-192BUS).
Derry City & Strabane District Council (DCSDC) is leading on the delivery of the DNA Museum (Derry~Londonderry on the North Atlantic), which will see buildings 45/46 and 49 of the former military barracks site in Ebrington developed and repurposed into a modern, state of the art museum, due to open late summer 2026.
This investment will create an interactive, all year-round visitor attraction, showcasing the significant heritage of the city and region, in particular highlighting the important role of the city and wider Foyle Basin in a range of global historical events. It will consist of six galleries, a dedicated archive discovery zone, a reading room and access to genealogy advice, a temporary exhibition space, a multi-purpose learning and events space, café and external interpretation space.
The archive collections are vast and varied, ranging from seventeenth century Londonderry Corporation minute volumes to collections linked to trade unions, civil rights, world wars and conflict, maritime heritage, business and industrial development, alongside art, prints and photographs. The collection will play a prominent role through the DNA Museum with the creation of access through the Reading Room and integration throughout the galleries in original and digital formats.
DCSDC seeks an experienced company/individual to provide a preparation and digitisation service for a variety of media from the archive and art collections over a contract period of 24 months.
