Purpose of the role
This role is responsible for owning, leading, and delivering on our PR strategy including press and wider media, ensuring positive working relations are maintained, and the organisation's message is consistent and reflects positively on our brand.
Accountabilities
* Identifies and advises the business on new opportunities for increasing external industry PR.
* Builds and develops strong working relationships with the press, industry bodies, and digital media affiliates ensuring we have strategic content partnerships in place.
* Holds and owns regular meetings with press, industry bodies, and digital media affiliates to build rapport and strengthen our position.
* Sets the direction of our PR strategy and plan, ensuring alignment to our overall business objectives and priorities.
* Provides market advice to our board and senior stakeholders to enable strategic decisions to be made.
* Advises how to operate PR strategy to meet business objectives and changing needs of the business, ensuring PR activity has tangible ROI.
* Identifies and leads industry and non-industry awards for the promotion of our people and our business, directing the narrative of the award submissions.
* Manages our attendance at industry events and ceremonies, coordinating between organisers, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
* Identifies additional opportunities for exposure and advises back to senior stakeholders on where/when we should be advertising or seeking media coverage.
* Secures and negotiates commercial opportunities that align with marketing budgets.
* Works alongside the Marketing and wider teams on the creation of necessary assets.
* Works closely with the marketing function to input on our customer journey through the delivery of a strategic social media plan, linking to PR stories that align with our business objectives.
* Owns the external tone of PR, from brand through to tone of voice.
* Creates the process and governance for dealing with unexpected or negative PR coverage and leads plans for proactive response and positive messaging.
* Builds a strong rapport with key business stakeholders through regular meetings for the uncovering of new market stories, product, service, and proposition launches.
* Defines and leads the product, service, and proposition 'to-market' plan (within the industry) working in close connection with the Marketing Manager and Communications Manager.
* Identifies key industry and non-industry events for our business to exhibit/speak at and writes supporting business case for the investment.
* Coordinates and project manages exhibition tasks.
* Develops and sustains strong working relationships with all senior stakeholders and subject matter experts, securing thought leadership opportunities and being the lead contact for these.
* Tracks and reports on all media activity, PR exposure, award status, and event ROI.
Minimum Requirements
* Proven experience in public relations.
* Proven track record of designing and leading successful PR campaigns at both local and national levels.
* Experience in acting as company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast, digital, and print media interviews.
* Good experience of working with social media channels (blogs, Twitter, LinkedIn).
* Experience in booking advertisements, exhibitions, and management/planning of these activities and events.
* Strong organisational skills and planning to meet deadlines.
* Good interpersonal skills to communicate with different departments and seniority levels.
