About St Luke’s
St Luke’s is Sheffield’s Hospice, with a vision to support and care for everyone affected by terminal illness in Sheffield. We are a community organisation focused on helping people in their communities as well as at our Little Common Lane site and our new, adjoining site at Clifford House on Ecclesall Road South. Our shops are based in the heart of communities across the city, as are our amazing volunteers.
The Crookes Shop
The Crookes shop has two sides: one which houses furniture and bric-a-brac, ideal for anyone interested in interior design or helping to mend or restore furniture. Roles here include using our tills, chatting to customers, and may involve moving large, heavy items.
Our main Crookes shop sells a variety of interesting items. Our volunteers help meet and serve customers on the tills, accept donations, and keep the shop floor fully stocked.
If you prefer a non-customer facing role, our Crookes Stockroom is the engine room of our store. All donations that come into the Crookes shop daily are sorted, tagged, steamed, and processed ready to be sold. We receive everything from clothing and books to toys and antiques! There are many different roles available, including sorting accessories, jewellery, books, and collectible items for our vintage and eBay shops. We also house our electrical section in our stockroom, where PAT testing is carried out; full training will be provided on all roles.
