Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry (CMHT South)

The population covered by the service is 285,938, of which 96,725 are older people. The service provides two inpatient wards, one dedicated Memory service, one Care Homes and Dementia Team (CHADT), one Mental Health Assessment and Liaison Team for the elderly (MHALT), and two Community Mental Health teams - North-East and South-West (this post holder works with the South Team out of the South-West Team).
The South CMHT (this post): Older people CMHT service for Southwest York Locality as well as Selby has an over 65 population of about 22,000. The CMHT provides Monday to Friday 9 am - 5 pm assessment and treatment services, which include the provision of care for older people with functional mental health problems as well as complex organic care for patients in their own homes. The entire southwest team receives about 400 referrals each year, with the South team receiving around 50% of the southwest team referrals. The post holder is expected to see approximately 6 to 8 new CMHT patients a month and approximately 8 to 10 review CMHT patients a month. At the time of writing this, there are no CTO or section 37/41 patients. Usually, there are no more than 1 or 2 patients a year per consultant under MHA.
Main duties of the job
This is a replacement (due to the current substantive consultant moving to a different local team) substantive less than full-time post, though candidates wishing to work full-time (10 PA) are encouraged to apply. There is a high chance that an additional 2 PA can be added to make it a full-time post to backfill another team. As it stands, the Consultant will provide input working to a 6 direct clinical care (6 DCC) and 2 supporting professional activities (2 SPA) work programme for the South team.

Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year. The post may be subject to a recruitment premia.
