The Patient Safety Commissioner for Scotland’s role is to advocate for the systematic improvement in the safety of health care and to promote the importance of the views of patients and other members of the public in relation to the safety of health care.
This is a new high-profile appointment. We are looking for a talented individual who has drive, integrity, credibility, resilience and excellent communication skills to be the inaugural Patient Safety Commissioner for Scotland.
We would welcome applications from those working in academia, the legal profession (e.g those doing medical negligence) and NHS Primary Care.
The appointment is for a fixed term of up to 8 years, attracts a starting salary of £89,685 and is pensionable through the Civil Service Pension Schemes.

Waverley Care is Scotland’s leading HIV and Hepatitis C charity, and we are looking for a Policy & Communications Officer for an initial six-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of policy development and advocacy, ensuring Scotland remains on track to achieve zero new HIV transmission by 2030.
As the Policy & Communications Officer, you’ll be instrumental in shaping and delivering policy initiatives that support the Scottish Government’s commitments to ending HIV stigma and improving the lives of those living with HIV.
You will work proactively across the charity to ensure consistent policy messages, and to inform influencing activities by producing briefings, consultation responses, and other communications content.
You will:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with MSPs, civil servants, and key stakeholders to drive Scotland’s progress toward eliminating Hepatitis C and achieving zero new HIV transmission by 2030.
* Produce high-quality internal and external briefings, consultation responses, press releases, media statements, social media posts and online content that align with Waverley Care’s policy positions.
* Represent Waverley Care at events, meetings, and networks, actively advancing the organisation’s policy objectives and supporting the Fast-Track Cities Scotland initiative.
* Plan and coordinate National Consortium meetings, including setting agendas, securing speakers, and taking minutes.
* Maintain and update databases of contacts and activities, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of policy and public affairs work, including compliance with Scotland’s Lobbying Register.
* Support and engage Waverley Care’s Community Panel, ensuring communications are inclusive and reflective of lived experiences and elevate the voices of those affected by blood-borne viruses.
* Develop evidence-based policy positions and provide strategic advice to support Scottish Government targets.
* Stay informed and proactive in monitoring policy developments related to blood-borne viruses (BBVs) and key public health initiatives in Scotland.
* Produce high-quality, evidence-based research reports that support Waverley Care’s policy objectives, influencing decision-makers and contributing to meaningful change.

As a member of the Executive Team your primary role is to provide strategic leadership that delivers good governance for Ark Group and our subsidiary companies, (Ark Services Ltd and Ark Commercial Investments Ltd), and to put in place risk managed strategic plans that will ensure the continued development of the organisation within operating models that are both viable and sustainable over the longer term.
The Director of Workforce Strategy and Business Transformation will have responsibility for creating and leading Ark’s workforce strategy, with the aim of transforming and shaping Ark’s future workforce to support delivery of Ark’s strategies. Key to the success of this role, will be the delivery of sustainable and future focused people resources, that enables Ark to deliver our strategic priorities within financially sustainable frameworks.
The Director of Workforce Strategy and Business Transformation will also lead Ark’s approaches to business performance and ensure effective implementation of frameworks that provide performance reports on the delivery of strategies, strategic objectives and operational performance across the organisation. The Director of Workforce Strategy and Business Transformation will ensure that the Executive Team and Board of Management can use data and reports to make decisions that drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
As a member of the Executive Team the post holder will have the responsibility for ensuring that Ark provides services and developments of the highest standard, that are safe, compliant and which are cost effective and responsive to the needs of the people we support and tenants. You are responsible for the proper safeguarding of public money as it is used in the pursuance of the organisation's aims.

About the role

The Scottish Policy & Research Exchange (SPRE) is seeking new trustees to help shape the organisation as it moves into the next phase of its growth. SPRE exists to support more equitable public governance and positive outcomes for people and the environment in Scotland. We do this through a range of capacity strengthening activities aimed at supporting meaningful connections and learning between researchers, knowledge mobilisers, policymakers and practitioners.
