About our European Expansion Team:
Our Mission is to make money work for everyone, everywhere. As we scale the European Expansion organization, we're looking for a Senior Data Science Manager to lead our data team and product strategy more holistically to get us to Europe. You'll be working in an ever-changing environment in collaboration with the General Manager, Senior Engineering Manager, and EU Leadership team. We're looking for a leader with hands-on experience, a data-driven strategic leader who can bring fresh thinking and new ways to inspire the team and our customers, and drive business outcomes.
What you'll be working on:
You'll work closely with the product lead, engineering managers, designers, and researchers in an agile product environment. You are expected to drive product strategy using data and also serve as a core member of the EU tech leadership team. You'll champion the use of data, bring ideas to life through rigorous experimentation and A/B testing. You'll help us get the most out of volumes of cloud-native data platforms, spotting opportunities to make each area of our product work even better for our users. You and your team will drive product innovation and you'll get to see the impact of all your work in the product changes we make.
You will be a key leader in building a discipline of exceptional data scientists and analytics engineers working on getting Monzo to Europe, as well as having the opportunity to help your team's career progression and development. We have a strong culture of data-driven decision-making across the whole company. All our data lives in one place and is super easy to use. 90% of day-to-day data-driven decisions are covered by self-serve analytics through Looker, which gives data scientists the headspace to focus on more impactful business questions and analyses.
You should apply if:
* You have multiple years of experience in product data science, with 3 or more years working in Senior or Lead positions within Data Science or Analytics.
* You have experience managing high-performing senior teams of 8-10 people.
* You consider yourself an empathetic leader and have experience managing data scientists and analytics engineers.
* You are a strong strategic data leader and love to drive decisions.
* You are comfortable exploring potentially ambiguous business problems and enjoy using data to drive decisions.
* You have experience building a strategic understanding of the business while structuring complex projects to bring them to life.
* You're as comfortable getting hands-on as well as taking a step back and thinking strategically.
* You have experience building relationships and collaborating with senior business stakeholders and product teams.
* You know what it takes to lead top-tier Data Science and Analytics Engineering talent.
* You're familiar with using a variety of Data Science tools and coding languages (Python and SQL).
The Interview Process:
Our interview process involves 3 main stages. We promise not to ask you any brain teasers or trick questions!
* 30-minute recruiter call
* 45-minute call with hiring manager
* 3 x 1-hour video calls with various team members
Our average process takes around 3-4 weeks but we will always work around your availability. You will have the chance to speak to our recruitment team at various points during your process.
What's in it for you:
£110,000 to £130,000 + Stock Options + Benefits. We can help you relocate to the UK and sponsor visas. This role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London). We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team. Learning budget of £1,000 a year for books, training courses, and conferences.
If you prefer to work part-time, we'll make this happen whenever we can.
