The Housing Asset & Investment Team manages over 12,000 properties. We are seeking a Repairs & Maintenance Co-ordinator to assist in delivering and improving our repairs and maintenance services.
You will support the Housing Repairs Manager in implementing the Council's repairs and maintenance strategy and ensure effective service delivery to tenants and owner-occupiers through various contractors, including our in-house team.
Main duties include managing staff who diagnose repair issues and instruct repairs according to policy. You will handle customer interactions in person and by phone to resolve complex repair issues, deal with elected members, and manage customer enquiries and complaints, ensuring target timescales are met. Additionally, you will contribute to performance monitoring and service development to maintain a high-quality, customer-focused repairs service.
Essential experience includes working in a housing repairs, maintenance, or investment role, delivering responsive repairs and capital investment programs. You should have experience dealing with the public face-to-face and via phone, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of workmanship standards across trades involved in repairs, relevant housing legislation (including the Tenements Scotland Act 2004), and health and safety regulations related to construction is required. Desirable skills include analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
You should possess IT skills, demonstrate leadership qualities, and be capable of working independently in a busy team environment. Flexibility to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and attend out-of-hours meetings is essential. A full driving licence is desirable.
