Main duties of the job As a Sister/Charge Nurse in the Paediatric Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC), you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication with various individuals and groups, often addressing complex and potentially stressful topics in a range of situations. You will actively engage in developing your knowledge and practice through continuing professional development opportunities, including face-to-face teaching and e-learning. Ensuring the health, safety, and security of yourself and others within your work area is a key aspect of the role. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of services and a commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and the rights of all individuals is essential.In this role, you will assess and address the complex and evolving health and wellbeing needs of patients in the department. You will also be responsible for developing practice to meet individual health and wellbeing needs while leading others in expanding their knowledge, ideas, and work practices. Engaging in research and development is an important aspect of continuous improvement in patient care. You must have the ability to manage an unpredictable and rapidly changing clinical environment, where priorities frequently shift, and patient numbers are not capped. This includes responding to emergency situations such as cardiac arrests and fire safety incidents, ensuring that care is delivered effectively even under high-pressure conditions.
