About the job:
Kent is looking for a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to be based in Woking.
The Senior Civil Structural Engineer is typically accountable to the Lead Civil Structural Engineer, Civil Structural Group Manager and / or Project Manager, depending on size and complexity of the Project. Corporate reporting line is to respective Departmental/Group Manager.
Senior Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for hands-on engineering, liaising and managing work executed by GEC engineering offices and delivering the Civil / Structural engineering scope of a range of projects including feasibility studies, FEED’s, Detailed Engineering and EPC(m). Engineer shall be competent in all aspects of Civil and structural Engineering including but not limited to foundation design, piling, structures (steel, concrete), roads, paving, infrastructure. Knowledge of underground services would be an advantage. The role will encompass a range of activities including preparation of calculations, specifications, standards, reports, MTO’s reviewing and checking 3D models and drawings including the hands-on use and implementation of engineering software including MS Office tools, Staad Pro, TEDDs, Mat 3D and similar tools. Staad Pro experience and hands-on ability is a prerequisite. Takes part in key project reviews including 3D model reviews.

The UK Engineering group will support a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in Low Carbon/ Energy Transition (CCUS, Green Hydrogen, Blue Hydrogen, Offshore Wind, Waste to X, Emissions Reduction) as well as responsibly developing traditional international energy projects.
Skills and Responsibilities:
* Typically technically responsible for a small/medium size project or an area of work on larger projects and supervises preparation of specific deliverables.
* Undertaking specific tasks/area of work as defined by the lead/ principal engineer or group manager.
* Identifying and resolving discrepancies and divergences from original proposal / contract under the supervision of the lead/principal engineer or group manager.
* Provides construction support, as required.
* Supporting the preparation of the Civil / Structural Design Criteria and executes allocated tasks within the requirements of the project execution plan and Civil / Structural Design Criteria.
* Ensuring compliance with KENT’s ISO accredited QMS, and project specific procedures, guides and standards.
* In consultation with Civil / Structural group manager takes responsibility for identifying own development needs and ensuring that agreed development goals are met taking due cognisance of project commitments.
* Performing related duties as and when instructed by lead/principal engineer or group manager.
* Undertaking specified tasks / areas of work dependent on size and complexity of project, as defined by the lead engineer or project / group manager / project engineering manager.
* Supervising and checking the work of other engineers as delegated by the lead engineer / group manager.
* Responsible for communicating technical/ project issues potentially impacting the project to the lead engineer.
* Senior engineer is accountable to the lead/principal engineer, group manager or project engineer (dependent on size and complexity of the project) in the project environment.
* Responsible for personal training and development in consultation with Civil / Structural Group Manager.
* The corporate reporting line is to respective Civil / Structural Group Manager.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
* Engineering degree, Honours or equivalent in Civil / Structural Engineering or similar (minimum). Masters degree preferred.
* Chartered Engineer or approaching chartered status.
* Exposure to consultancy, FEED, detailed design and EPC projects.
* Strong knowledge and experience of applicable international and industry specifications, standards and codes.
* Strong technical knowledge in the engineering and design of foundations, piling, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures and buildings.
* Complimentary knowledge of civil and undergrounds engineering and design.
* Relevant knowledge and hands-on experience of engineering software and tools hands-on capability relevant to civil / Structural Engineering and particular engineering specialisms. Staad Pro experience preferred.
* Knowledge of safety and quality procedures and best practice.
