The ideal candidate will be committed to a career in trust accounting and tax and will have strong experience in this area and currently operating in the capacity as a manager (or assistant manager ready for this role).
The role
We are seeking a bright and ambitious manager to join and complement the trust team within the Private Wealth and Estates Group. The team is growing in response to an expanding and more demanding client base and this is an excellent opportunity to join a team at the next stage in its growth.
The role will involve managing a portfolio of trust clients for the wealthiest of our private clients and this will include all aspects of trusts from managing the trust administration, accounts and tax return preparation through to complex advisory and inheritance tax matters. The main responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the team to manage workloads, provide technical support and guidance and ensuring the correct processes are followed
* Managing client relationships, ensuring all communication and work is completed efficiently, at the correct level and within budgets/quotes
* Reviewing accounts and tax returns prepared by the team for the clients within your portfolio as well as high level review for clients managed by others in the team
* Providing realistic quotes for new work when the opportunities arise, ensuring these are profitable and our costs are 100% recoverable.
* Overseeing the trust administration and preparation processes particularly for the clients that you manage
* Assisting senior managers/partners with various advisory work and projects as required
* The opportunity to build meaningful relationships with trustees, their advisors and the beneficiaries.
The individual
Candidates will be committed to a career in trusts and will have strong relevant experience in this area. Candidates will also be a team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Candidates will be decisive and keen to improve processes and ways of working to ensure efficiency. Candidates will be good communicators, ensuring communication internally and externally is responsive, clear, concise, proactive, relevant to the recipients’ needs and is as regular as required. Experience of running a portfolio of trust clients, including organising the delivery of work, problem solving and the ability to use your own initiative is essential as well as experience of advising trustees on various trust matters.
Previous experience of using computerized accounting or tax packages is useful. The firm uses Digita and CCH Trust Accounts.
Education and experience
Candidates should ideally be CTA, STEP or accounts qualified. Previous experience of trust accounts and tax matters is essential.
The team
Our trust team sits within the Accounts and Trust Team of the Private Wealth Estates Group. We provide a partner lead service, dealing with all matters for both UK and offshore trusts.
The team consists of 4 core trust team members ranging from senior manager to trust administrator as well as a number of other members of the Accounts and Trust Team.
The office
We are a leading firm of Chartered Accountants and business advisers with offices in Bristol. Our Bristol office is home to 6 partners and 70+ members of staff.
