About the role
As a member of the Student Engagement and Careers Operations team, you will contribute to the delivery of a student-focused, professional, friendly and efficient student Careers Hub and service.
Contributing to a first-stop point of contact for student enquiries, the Employability Adviser provides a single gateway for students to access information, advice and guidance on a wide range of student careers issues. This role is based in the Student Hub on campus and offers support in-person, online, over the phone, and will include topics such as application coaching, interview preparation, employability skills development, careers options, job applications, statements and CVs, work experience and postgraduate study etc.
As the Employability Adviser you will provide information and advice on the breadth of careers related topics and support a range of queries from students and visitors to the Hub. You will be providing signposting and onward referral to careers and placement advisors as appropriate. You will also play a pivotal role in the co-creation and signposting to a range of careers-related resources, online and in hard copy.
What we’re looking for
The right candidate for the role may not have worked in higher education before, but will bring a high level of administration, accuracy, attention to detail, innovation and creativity to the role, with a passion for customer service, feedback and continual improvement. We're looking for candidates who have experience of managing high-volume, busy workloads, who are extremely organised and able to think dynamically to solve problems. You will be a natural team player, working with a range of teams within and beyond the Careers Service to ensure we have a connected, dynamic and customer focussed approach.
You will ideally have:
• excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, combined with strong ICT skills and a commitment to delivering a high-quality customer service
• previous experience of working within both an office administration and front-line customer facing role, with the ability to create and maintain client relationships
• previous experience of working in a HE, Careers and/or Recruitment setting would be advantageous
• a flexible approach, working across the range of Careers service provision and undertaking occasional evening and weekend work
• the ability to act as a positive advocate for change and as an ambassador for the whole Careers Service
• flexibility, adaptability and an ability to manage time effectively and plan ahead.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until 30th June 2025 due to absence cover. We regret that there is no opportunity to work from home in this position.
