The exciting new position of pre operative scheduler is being developed within the department. We are looking for an experienced administrator from a healthcare background with a working knowledge of waiting list management.
The Pre- operative scheduler also takes the lead in managing the coordination of patients throughout the pre-operative pathway. They contribute to the development of databases and the collection of information to optimise patients' health before elective surgery. Collaboration with primary and secondary care providers, as well as third-sector organisations, is essential to streamline services and enhance patients' access to peri-operative care. With their expertise and collaborative approach, the coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality standards, efficient operations, and optimal patient outcomes in the pre-operative unit.
Main duties of the job
1. To process pre-assessment requests received from a wide range of staff and departments, with responsibility for actioning and appointing patients within agreed departmental/operational protocols ensuring national guarantee wait time is adhered to.
2. To liaise with Operational Management team, in order to facilitate waiting list initiative sessions by reacting to ad hoc and urgent requests.
3. To participate in Pre-Assessment Assessment Team Meetings contributing to any potential service improvements.
4. To notify patients of pre assessment prior to surgery, dealing with cancellations and re-filling of same with responsibility to ensure maximum uptake of appointment slots.
5. Disseminate information obtained at pre assessment to ensure surgical lists are accurately compiled to full capacity.

Person Specification
Skills and Experience
* Secondary education.
* Experience of waiting list coordination & managing patient waiting time targets including 18 RTT and diagnostic waiting times.
* Working within a clerical healthcare setting.
* Experience of dealing with the general public/customer experience.
* Ability to work in fast paced changing environment.

Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 per annum pro rata.
