Main duties of the job
The Deputy Cancer Programme Manager is responsible for ensuring the operational delivery, performance, and management of Cancer Services, aiming to provide high-quality and efficient patient care. Key duties include:
* Supporting performance targets, developing service plans, and ensuring continuous service improvements. Responsible for managing the implementation of policies, national cancer guidelines, and long-term strategic plans.
* Leading transformation efforts, collaborating with clinicians and managers to meet cancer targets, and fostering teamwork to improve services. They will also work on staff management, including recruitment, performance reviews, and training.
* Monitoring cancer waiting times, managing performance data, and ensuring the achievement of cancer-related targets. They will work closely with teams to improve efficiency and ensure accurate data reporting.
* Managing the cancer services admin budget, developing business cases, contributing to financial planning, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Overseeing data collection for cancer audits, using software for performance reports, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of cancer-related data.
* Line managing the Cancer Services Admin Team, ensuring effective recruitment, attendance, and performance management.
* Building effective working relationships across teams, communicating complex information clearly, and ensuring that staff are aligned with NHS cancer policies.
* Travel across Trust locations.
