The Children's Bowel and Bladder Service has an exciting opportunity to recruit to a permanent band 5 staff nurse who provide nurse led bowel and bladder clinics within the community. The children's bowel and bladder service is part of the Integrated Children's Community Nursing and Therapy Team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated band 5 Staff Nurse who will be happy to work in an evolving Children's Bowel and Bladder Service. You will assess, plan, implement & evaluate evidence based patient care with the Children’s Bowel and Bladder Service.
The role requires excellent communication skills as you will be undertaking assessments and developing plans for the children/carers.
You will need to work collaboratively with other professionals.
You will be joining an enthusiastic and motivated Integrated Children's Nursing and Therapy team who are friendly and approachable. We are focused and staff development is high on our agenda. As part of our team we want to develop all staff to the highest standard.
• Manage a defined case load of complex children showing an ability to prioritise care
• Responsible for effective documentation of acts and omissions in all relevant records including patient care records
• Provide nurse led bowel and bladder clinics using clinical skills
• Promote the achievement of the child’s maximum potential through the development, implementation and evaluation of an individual programme of care.
• Referring to other professionals/agencies for further assessment/advice/ information as necessary.
• To provide feedback, guidance, advice and training to parents/family members / carers, members of the multidisciplinary team. Ensuring that this is done in a way to support cultural and linguistic needs of the individuals.
• Develop and maintain competence in agreed clinical skills in designated area.
• Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired outcomes that promote optimum health and well being.
• Effectively communicate and disseminate information to the multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensure privacy, dignity and individual patient needs are met
• Participate in revalidation in line with national and professional requirement
• Be open and honest when a mistake is made and provide reflection to demonstrate learning.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
