Vacancy:
We have an opportunity for a permanent waking night support worker, based at one of our EBD children's residential homes in Bicester, Oxfordshire. The home currently supports one young person who requires support with complex, challenging behaviours.
Experience supporting children, young people or adults with complex challenging behaviours, mental health support needs would be an advantage.
Waking night support workers play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children and young people throughout the night. You will be there to offer comfort, manage nighttime routines, and address any issues that may arise, creating a peaceful and secure environment for everyone.
You will liaise with day shift staff to ensure a thorough handover of any issues or incidents that may have occurred during the night.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing care and support to children and young people who require social, emotional, and mental health support.
Night shifts operate from 9pm until 8am on a 5 on 5 off rota. Drivers are essential.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for Waking Night Support Worker:
1. Build strong, positive relationships with children, offering emotional and practical support to make them feel safe and valued.
2. Help children settle for bedtime and assist with morning routines, ensuring a smooth transition from night to day.
3. Maintain a secure environment by conducting regular checks, being vigilant about their safety and well-being throughout the night.
4. Be there for children who may wake up during the night, providing calm, comforting support to ease any anxieties.
5. Support with daily living activities and medication administration as required.
6. Organising and participating in recreational activities.
7. Creating a safe and welcoming environment.
8. Building positive nurturing relationships with vulnerable young people with complex needs.
9. Empower and motivate young people to achieve their goals and overcome difficult emotions and behaviours.
10. Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere within the home.
11. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
12. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for the young people in your care.
13. Help children create lasting, positive memories through special activities and nurturing care.
What you'll bring:

2. A willingness to work towards QCF level 3 in Residential Childcare, which is fully funded by us!
3. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays to meet operational needs of the home.

6. Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and a calm demeanour.
