Summary This is a great opportunity to make a difference across the West Yorkshire Group (Hardcastle Crags, East Riddlesden Hall, Marsden Moor). Our visitor numbers are highest on Saturdays and Sundays and so you'll be required to work several weekend days per month. What it's like to work here Reporting into the Visitor Operations & Experience Manager, you'll be managing the Facilities Coordinators, Facilities Assistants, General Cleaners, and a small but amazing team of Facilities volunteers, across the group. Leading on the delivery of all cleaning, maintenance, and compliance in our historically significant buildings, you'll be organised, have a positive can-do attitude, be a great people manager, and care about high presentational standards. Your time will be split across the sites, weighted more towards East Riddlesden Hall and Hardcastle Crags, than Marden Moor (which has less buildings or an indoor visitor offer to support). What you'll be doing You’ll be leading the Facilities Co-ordinators and Assistants to ensure that you are optimising their time and prioritising reactive and proactive works across the West Yorkshire group. Alongside this you’ll be meeting with the Facilities Volunteers to engage with them and delegate the daily tasks from the cleaning and maintenance schedule. There may be contractors/suppliers on site that you’ll meet with to exchange information in order for them to operate safely e.g. pest controllers, decorators, builders, delivery drivers. To plan for future projects and ensure compliance always, you will undertake desk-based planning which will involve risk assessments, incident reporting etc. You’ll be raising purchase orders or placing orders for services as well as dealing with visitor enquiries or first aid incidents – we’d ask you to join one of our first aid training courses to become part of our on-site first aid team. You’ll also be part of our Duty Management team rota – making sure that the property is set up to operate smoothly and safely throughout the day, dealing with any incidents, all the way through to end of day checks and locking up/alarming our buildings. You’ll not be on site on your own, and there is always the wider West Yorkshire leadership team to call on should you need advice. We're looking to recruit someone who can evidence the ability to be technically dynamic, have a great attitude to learning, and feels comfortable problem solving. You'll be given training throughout your induction, and ongoing support following this. Who we're looking for We’d love to hear from you if you’re: experienced in managing facilities, or supervising, and looking to develop your career keenly interested in looking after buildings and assets to a high standard skilled in managing relations with contractors focused on detail, especially to do with health and safety and compliance knowledgeable of environmental and climate initiatives able to manage large maintenance budgets and make sure projects run smoothly The package The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
