About the role
As a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer, you’ll bring technical expertise and strong judgment to the role, investigating and enforcing planning regulations, supporting colleagues, and working collaboratively with other departments. Your work will help ensure our local area remains a safe and vibrant place for all.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Investigating Breaches: Lead investigations into alleged planning control breaches, including site visits and interviews, and pursue enforcement action where needed.
2. Supporting Cases to Prosecution: Guide cases through to prosecution when necessary, helping to maintain high standards of compliance.
3. Handling Planning Applications: Manage planning applications that arise from enforcement actions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently.
4. Appeals and Hearings: Represent the council in enforcement appeals, hearings, and inquiries, bringing your expertise and attention to detail to each case.
5. Supporting Your Team: Supervise, mentor, and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
6. Working with Stakeholders: Collaborate with elected Councillors, community members, and other stakeholders to deliver a high-quality planning enforcement service.
Key qualifications and skills, we’re looking for:
1. Planning or related degree.
2. Substantial (likely to be more than 5 years) relevant professional experience.
3. Chartered Town Planner Qualification, Level 7 (5 years).
4. Eligibility for Chartered Member of Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
5. Demonstrate commitment and resilience to succeed.
Special Conditions
1. Full UK Driving Licence.
2. Ability to travel / access to a vehicle for work purposes.
