PROFESSIONAL ROLE Analyses and interprets national and local recommendations for breast cancer and develops plans with others to implement and achieve compliance. Contributes to the hospital weekly breast MDT meeting and the cancer network measures it must achieve. OPERATIONAL Contributes to the design, planning and development of the breast cancer service and patient pathways. Participates in annual Macmillan service reviews of cancer nursing in MK Hospital. EDUCATION Works as a role model and supports high standards of care by working clinically alongside nursing and medical staff. Identifies the educational needs of patients, their careers and their families in relation to breast cancer and works with the Macmillan Information and Support Nurse to address these at an individual and a community level.
