Job Description ARE YOU A TECHNICAL DESIGNER WITH EXPERIENCE IN THE RETAIL SECTOR FOR DESIGN LOOKING FOR YOUR NEXT ROLE? My client is a high-street retail brand and is looking for an in-house technical designer to be involved with their store re-fits and designs. You would be responsible for the production of the project department drawing packs, including store construction fit-out packs, bespoke fixture fabrication drawings, and any project associated detailing. In addition, you will be supporting the Store Design Manager with creating visually exciting and memorable retail spaces in line with the brand ethos. You will work in a fast-paced environment, where you will be a key member of the Store Design team, ready to work collaboratively and contribute your ideas. With a keen commercial eye and strong attention to detail, you will bring to life through your technical drawing ability the department's vision for display fixtures and stores. RESPONSIBILITIES of the role: Assist in the design and development of fixtures, fittings, furniture, and signage. Produce fully detailed ‘For Construction’ drawing packages ready for statutory bodies, landlords, and in-house approvals for tender and construction phases. Assist the Store Design Manager in managing department drawing project workloads, and coordinating with external agencies. Research current store construction/fabrication trends, attend all relevant trade shows, and pull together inspiration and ideas for new store design elements. Work with the Construction Project Manager and Facilities Team to ensure all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to. Compile full sets of “as built” technical drawings to include technical specifications relating to appropriate codes of practice or regulations. Compile inspirational images notes and drawings in sketchbooks for future development. Create, implement, and maintain an up-to-date library of all drawing packs, drawing resources, designs, samples, and materials. Develop a strong commercial awareness and understanding of the brand stock package concerning shop fit design. Manage the housekeeping of sent and received design drawings and photos and associated project documentation. Space plan survey of historical brand stores to ensure all locations have accurate CAD info. REQUIREMENTS of the role: 5-10 years experience in a similar sector (retail, F&B, Interior Design/ Architecture). Advanced Proficiency in Vectorworks (2D & 3D). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Proficiency in Sketch Up. Knowledge and experience in demonstrating building regulations and British Standards (either through qualifications or previous experience). Previous experience in communication skills (internally and externally) written & verbal. OTHER INFORMATION: This is a hybrid/office-based role: typically, you would be working 3 days per week in the office, and 2 working from home. You must be happy with commuting. My client has sites across the UK and into Ireland, so site weekly visits are essential. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. Core hours are between 9 am to 5:30 pm. The client has expressed flexibility on start and finish times as long as hours are covered, and it has been agreed prior with your line manager. There is on-site parking.
