What about the Team?
The Care and Support service within Newcastle City Council’s Adult Social Care and Prevention Directorate is the Council’s internally delivered building and community based provision to residents with eligible social care needs. The Care and Support service serves to provide the very highest standards of care and support to older people and people with disabilities (including people with presenting needs of learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health conditions and autistic people). A primary aim of the service is to promote people’s daily living skills, self-confidence and overall independence to ensure that people can do as much for themselves and reduce their reliance on formal social care support, in turn, maximising their opportunities of continuing to live in their own homes. Some of the Care and Support services provide long term support (i.e. Day provision and Shared Lives), whilst, other service areas (i.e. Supported Employment Services, Resource Centres) provide short term interventions. However, an Enablement focus is the overarching approach, with every service area providing support to people to enable them to reach their optimal functioning. Some of the Care and Support services are registered with the Care Quality Commission, with the fundamental requirement that they are constantly safe and of high quality.
What about the Role?
As a Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer, you will be a key cog in aiding the Care and Support service to comply with Corporate responsibilities and legislative requirements. The postholder will significantly contribute towards the continuous evaluation of the service’s operations. The Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer will work alongside the Head of Service in analysing data and identifying trends and areas of development. Crucially, the postholder will be pivotal to ever-increasing the standards of service provision, by specifically tutoring employees and supporting services to compile and adhere to service plans.
The Care and Support service is subject to Care Quality Commission, Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Fire Safety and Environmental Inspections, as well as being in receipt of internal unannounced inspections. Consequently, the postholder will be required to reflect upon the levels of non-compliance from such inspections and work collaboratively with Team Managers and their respective teams on taking the appropriate corrective action to address such non-compliance.
To apply for this role, you will need to be confident, able to communicate with a wide and varied audience and have a flexible approach to work, working off your own initiative to meet deadlines. The Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer will work closely with all Care and Support teams, therefore, it is imperative that the postholder has good interpersonal skills and can work collaboratively with a wide range of teams.
