To join their Energy & Carbon department, we have an opportunity for an Energy Market Analyst to conduct in-depth market analysis, interpreting key economic and energy supply data and communicating insights clearly to both internal and external stakeholders through written reports and presentations.
As an Energy Market Analyst, you would:
* Support the procurement team to deliver exceptional energy trading market performance for their customers.
* Assist in making informed decisions regarding short and long-term trading strategies, risk management, and market forecasts.
* Collaborate with other authorized traders to manage power and gas volume requirements, ensuring a smooth and efficient trading process.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse market data and produce reports on key issues and potential outcomes affecting trading and risk strategy.
* Write briefings and presentations on UK and European energy commodity price drivers, including supply and demand factors.
* Present market updates at internal meetings, customer forums, governance panels, and in newsletters.
* Respond to customer inquiries regarding market data, analysis, and risk product information.
* Support the procurement team with power and gas trading, maintain accurate trade records, and reconcile customer portfolio data.
Requirements:
Education:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy Management, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Experience in an Energy Market Analyst role or similar in a wholesale trading environment or equivalent.
* Experience or interest in supply/demand fundamental information for LNG, Natural Gas, Crude Oil, Shipping, FX, Power, Coal, Renewables, Carbon, and Power Purchase Agreements.
* A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel & VBA, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI).
* Ability to assimilate, analyse and interpret key facts from a wide variety of data sources while working to tight deadlines.
* A clear, concise, and confident communicator, both orally and in writing.
