Your new organisation
Southend-on-Sea City Council is a Unitary local authority employing around 1,800 staff working alongside our partners and local communities to deliver the Southend 2050 ambition and make lives better for the people of Southend. Southend itself is a vibrant place to live and work, offering coastal living alongside excellent and fast transport links into London. The team is committed to working together with parents and carers, education settings and partner agencies to ensure children and young people with SEND are given the best opportunity to thrive and succeed. Southend City Council has a great opportunity for a forward-thinking, driven and compassionate individual to join the Educational Psychologist team who are committed to providing a first-class service to the children and families with SEND.
Your new role
We are looking for Locum Educational Psychologists (EP) for temporary posts until Aug 2025. This contract is offered on a hybrid basis which is a combination of remote working and face-to-face (this role can be predominantly working from home). As a Locum EP, you will be working in our EHCP team, completing the psychological advice towards Education Health and Care Plan assessments. We have two teams, one working on EHCPs and one working in schools on early intervention work. This post will allow the successful individual to be part of an integrated service within Southend's Education, Inclusion and Early Years Directorate, promoting inclusive practice in relation to all children and young people, advocating for positive mental health and wellbeing.
Through statutory assessments and preventative strategies, including providing a range of assessments, training key adults, group work, and multi-agency support, we aim to support children and young people to meet their academic and social development, enabling them to be the best they can be. Through the delivery of advice, support, guidance, and training to children and young people, their families, and educational settings, the service will continue to maximise levels of educational attainment, educational achievement, and personal development, thereby supporting our most vulnerable learners to live their best lives.
For an informal discussion, please contact Melanie Adkins, Principal Educational Psychologist.
