Position Overview: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our esteemed team in Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and compassionate psychiatrist to lead and contribute to the delivery of high-quality mental health services for older adults within our community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical leadership and expertise in old age psychiatry, overseeing the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of older adults with mental health disorders.
2. Lead multidisciplinary teams in the development and implementation of comprehensive care plans tailored to the unique needs and challenges of older patients.
3. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, formulate accurate diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
4. Provide consultation and support to primary care providers, community mental health teams, and other stakeholders involved in the care of older adults with mental health needs.
5. Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including specialty trainees, medical students, and other members of the healthcare team.
6. Participate in service development initiatives, quality improvement projects, and research activities to enhance the delivery of mental health care services for older adults.
Requirements:
7. Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry (or eligibility for registration).
8. Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent qualification).
9. Significant experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in old age psychiatry services, with a strong track record of clinical excellence and leadership.
10. Demonstrated expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health disorders in older adults, including dementia, depression, and anxiety.
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with older patients, families, and colleagues.
12. Commitment to continuous professional development and engagement in clinical governance activities.
13. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the ongoing improvement of mental health services for older adults.
