Our automotive OEM Client based in London is seeking a Design Project Manager to join their innovative team. Inside IR35.
Role Description:
The Design Project Manager is central to the successful delivery of design projects, coordination of internal resources, facilities, external suppliers and stakeholders within our Client. Projects are judged on various criteria, the DPM is key to facilitating Design Creativity, Quality, Time, Cost & many other project demands. You will manage outcome of projects creating and using appropriate plans, meetings, schedules, financial reporting, incorporating our Client’s Design Processes and Engineering requirements, ensuring projects are delivered to budget, time and quality.
Main Responsibilities:
Central figure and role in conception, execution & deliverables of design projects from start to finish.
Co-ordinate Client functions to deliver projects in an efficient, effective and sustainable manner.
Regular updates to the Master Gant chart for all projects.
Proactively predict resource requirements in order that project demands are met.
Manage and co-ordinate Client project responsibilities with Global Design Centre.
Anticipate project needs around the design process and facilitate decision making for the effective realisation of Client’s deliverables.
Liaise with function managers and resolve resource requirements and timing constraints.
Support finance process around RFQ, Quotation and Consignment to and from GDC.
Skills, Attributes and Experience Required:
Project management experience in delivery of Production & Concept projects within the automotive industry, ideally within a Design Studio.
In depth knowledge of upstream/downstream Design activities including Sketching, Model Realisation, VR, Engineering Development & Prototype Builds.
‘Go to’ person for project related matters and topics, internal and external.
Proactive approach to problem resolution, facilitating as required in a cross functional basis.
Clear purpose and logical approach to project management, problem solving and adapting to change.
Robust working knowledge of project milestones, activities and deliverables.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commercial awareness for cost control purposes, internal and with Supplier.
Strong knowledge of ‘Best Practice’ within the Automotive Design business.
Demonstrable experience of commercial and contractual processes, objectives and strategies.
Familiar with Excel, Project or PRINCE processes desirable.
Cross functional working, control and motivation of mixed team
