We are recruiting for a rapidly expanding, award–winning business with an extensive property portfolio across Leicester and Coventry. Specialising in the design, construction, rental, and management of student and professional accommodation, they are planning further growth into new cities. As part of this exciting expansion, they are seeking a dynamic, detail–oriented Head of Finance to lead their finance department. Previous experience in the property sector is a distinct advantage. This is a fully onsite position with occasional home working opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Planning:
Participate in strategic financial planning, oversee internal control strategy, and contribute to the overall financial direction of the business.
Team Leadership:
Manage the finance team and ensure smooth operation of accounts receivable, payable, and billings. Process payroll using Sage 50 and oversee the company pension scheme.
Accounting:
Supervise cost accounting, bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and month–end close processes. Issue financial statements and maintain accurate records.
Management Reporting:
Develop management reports, ensuring monthly accounts are produced within 14 days of month–end.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Develop and monitor budgets, providing accurate financial forecasts for business planning.
Financial Controls & Audits:
Design, implement, and review financial policies, internal controls, and ensure timely VAT returns. Prepare audit information as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* ACCA or CIMA qualification (or equivalent).
* A minimum of 3 years of finance experience, with 2 years preferred in the property sector.
* Strong people management skills with the ability to lead a team effectively.
* Solid understanding of payroll, pension schemes, and financial compliance.
* Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Sage and Microsoft Office.
* Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem–solving abilities.
