Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Recovery Support Workers to join our team delivering the Clinical Access Line. The Clinical Access Line is a service that is central to the mental health crisis pathway with Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Following the national introduction of the 111 Mental Health option 2 service in April 2024, NHS England required all trusts to have a '24/7 open access telephone lines for urgent NHS mental health support, advice and triage through which people of all ages can access the NHS mental health pathway/further support if needed' You will be part of a team that consists of recovery workers, qualified Clinicians and Clinical Leads. The role of the recovery support worker will be to take initial calls, offer screening and direct service users to the most appropriate service to meet their needs. The team also provides advice and guidance through a triage process where the urgency of care required is assessed and signposted accordingly. Relevant training will be provided upon successful recruitment to the post and the posts are supported and supervised by qualified clinicians. These roles require individuals to have knowledgeable about different services, options and support. A key part of this role is to support those experiencing emotional distress and use problem solving approaches to best meet service user's needs. This role is telephony based and will require extended use of telephony at IT systems from an office base. The post holder will provide a solution focused response to callers utilizing their knowledge and experience of the range of community resources that are available. The post holder will provide the right level of intervention for whoever accesses the Clinical access line, including appropriate escalation where needed for clinical triage. The post holder will provide brief solution focussed emotional support for those calling in acute distress or experiencing a mental health crisis. The Clinical access line offers initial screening and clinical triage for all accessing the service 111 Mental health option 2 Professionals line Existing service users known to Crisis services or secondary mental health care The service can offer clinical triage, referral and signposting to other secondary mental health services, other statutory and non-statutory services or emotional support at the time of the call. This role within the Clinical access line will work under the direct supervision of a clinician within the service. The role will screen referrals using the UK Mental health triage scale toolkit, escalate cases to clinical triage as indicated by the triage, signpost service users to other services best able to meet their needs including emergency services if indicated. This role will also offer focused emotional support to meet the service users immediate needs if indicated by the triage process. The post holder will be required to recognise situations of clinical risk and immediately escalate concerns under the direct supervision of the available registered professional. You will have the ability to take appropriate emergency action independently in line with policies and procedures appropriate action to ensure a safe environment for patients/families and staff with support as necessary.
