An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the respiratory ward. Are you an ambitious band 5 staff nurse that wants an opportunity to broaden your knowledge and add new skills from a respiratory perspective? You will be expected to take delegated responsibility in a given shift with a group of patients.
Within the ward, there is a four-bedded respiratory hobs where you will care for patients on NIV therapy and Nasal high flow. Also, care for patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies. As a member of our team, you will work closely with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure that high-quality care is delivered at all times.
Main duties of the job:
1. Working as part of the MDT, leading care delivery.
2. Excellent communication skills, IT skills, willingness to share knowledge and mentor/teach qualified, unqualified staff, and students.
3. Able to remain calm under pressure.
4. Always provide all patients with privacy and dignity.
5. Evidence of good attendance and timekeeping.
You will receive specific training to help you achieve your competencies for the role, as well as Mandatory training and in-house courses. Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care for the area of responsibility for the shift. Delivers clear, concise records and handover.
Manages own time and responds to unexpected demands in a professional manner.
Carries out the assessment of patients identifying nursing problems and needs in partnership with the patient, and with appropriate members of the inter-professional team.
Ensures that skilled care is given to patients and that all drugs and treatments are administered as prescribed.
Ensures the maintenance of accurate clinical observations of patients' condition.
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and updates care plans and goals to take account of any changing needs of the patient.
