Decontamination Services within BFS provides a decontamination service for both surgical instruments and endoscopes to Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and several other NHS and Private Providers in the surrounding areas.
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has now become available for the right candidate to support the Decontamination Leadership Team as Decontamination Senior Supervisor. You will be part of a strong managerial support team including a Head of Operations, a Production Manager, a Quality Manager, and the entire Supervisory Team. You will be responsible for looking after the Supervisory Team.

Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the supervision of the Supervisors within the Department
2. To work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems
3. Meet the demands of the Departments workload whilst consistently achieving high quality standards
4. To lead on Health and Safety duties as per Policies and Regulations
5. To lead as required on Operational and Technical duties of the unit as per required
6. To Lead Team development by means of carrying appraisals and escalating any potential training needs
7. To comply with all components of the Trusts Infection Control Policy and the Hygiene Code as per the IP&C policy
8. To support the management of external customers and logistics services
9. To deputise for the Decontamination Production manager as required
10. To maintain compliance to all statutory and mandatory training as defined by the organisation and service needs
11. To comply with the Departments training programme and undertake training in line with the development of the post, as agreed with line manager
12. To continually develop and maintain a portfolio of evidence of training and CPD activities
13. To have an understanding of the Departments Quality Policy, Quality Manual and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that a high standard of work is maintained at all times
14. To have IT skills
15. To work towards the Technical Certificate or Level 3 equivalent
16. To work towards the Leadership Qualification in line with the role

Person Specification
Experience Essential
* Experience in all sections of decontamination department
* Experience of supervising less experienced/qualified staff
* Experience using decontamination equipment
* Use of a Word and PC systems including operation of Windows-based software, and keyboard skills
* Use of department tracking information systems
* Use of hospital information systems
* Use of quality management system
Knowledge and Awareness Essential
* Understands the concept and management of urgent /priority medical devices and non-conformances
* Can demonstrate the ability to work to strict standards of quality and safety
* Understands the fundamentals of data quality, data protection and the confidential use of patient information
Qualifications Essential
* Technical Certificate
* Decontamination / willing to work towards Charter Membership. Or equivalent level of knowledge and experience through decontamination training
* Working towards a Level 3 management Qualification/previous management experience
Desirable
* Working towards increasing knowledge through such qualifications and conferences
